Game Exchange: Culture Shock, or simply Culture Shock, is a series on The Game Theorists hosted by Michael Sundman, also known as Gaijin Goombah. It focuses on applying culture to gaming and looking for cultural history and references in games, much like its predecessor Game Exchange. Culture Shock was originally released while Game Exchange aired, typically as episodes about cultural tidbits too small to dedicate an entire episode of Game Exchange to. However, eventually replaced Game Exchange on The Game Theorists, despite it still airing on Michael's personal channel.

History[]

The first episode of Culture Shock, titled Super Paper Mario's Duel of 100, was released on April 10, 2014. In it, Michael explained that, in his research for subjects in game Exchange, he will often find some "really interesting" cultural references in games, but it would not be "substantial" enough to commit an entire episode to it. However, instead of simply ignoring the references, Michael wanted to create a "sub-series" of short videos ranging roughly 2-3 minutes, explaining these smaller cultural tidbits. Eventually, however, Culture Shock grew to replace Game Exchange entirely on The Game Theorists, ending after only 4 episodes of Culture Shock. On Michael's personal channel, however, Game Exchange is still active.

In the episode 5 Reasons FNAF is about The Bogeyman, released on October 20, 2015, Gaijin Goombah is reverted to his human form, in one of the stop-motion avatars like the ones in Crossover, for unknown reasons. Michael has chosen his avatar on The Game Theorists to remain this way to this day.

FartRocketPhysics Using height charts and pixel measurements, I was able to find that, by comparison, Wario is practically 10' tall.
