Jake Roper, also known by his internet name Vsauce3, is one of the three main hosts of the Vsauce channels. His channel in particular deals with video game science and trivia.
On November 11, 2012, Jake uploaded a video titled Science of Sonic the Hedgehog, which many felt similar to MatPat's Game Theory of a similar title; The Science of Sonic the Hedgehog. However, while MatPat's video explored the connections between Sonic characters and their real-life counterparts species-wise, Jake's video explored how fast Sonic traveled and what effects that would have on him. MatPat, however, still felt like Vsauce3 stole his idea.
One month later, MatPat uploaded a video claiming that Jake's estimations about Sonic's speed were wrong and, using information and calculations from only the games, MatPat concluded that Sonic can come close to the sound barrier, but the fastest depicted in the games is only about one quarter of the speed of sound.
MatPat revealed this information during his meta-theory on the Fine Brothers in his episode My Reaction to the Fine Bros React World Controversy that he felt his type of videos (format, style, etc.) had been stolen. Currently, however, Jake is at 3 million subscribers, and The Game Theorists is at 6 million subscribers, and MatPat is completely over it.
Jake also appeared in an episode of MatPat's GAME LAB.
